I was first attracted to Belly Dancing after attending a class with Candida Di Giandomenico in 2001. Unfortunately her classes were a bit far for me to travel to, therefore I grabbed the opportunity to take up belly dancing more seriously when Belly Dance Babes opened a studio in Alberton in 2005.
Natalie Misplon was my teacher, and when she decided to open her own studio in 2006, I followed her to Dancing Divinity as I was comfortable with her teaching style.
I am a very creative person, and dancing helps me to express my creativity, or even just my mood. Belly Dancing has increased my self-confidence and self-esteem, and also helped me to lose weight that I had previously been struggling to lose.
As there are so many different styles and fusions of Belly Dance I try my best to attend workshops with internationally accredited Belly Dance Stars and South African teachers whenever I can. I have been fortunate enough to have participated in workshops with Beverley Joffe from the UK and Rania from the USA.
I currently specialise in dancing with veils (single and double), but would in future like to learn more about tribal style belly dance and isolations.
My goal is to teach my students to realise that everyone is unique, and that each of us has a self-assured woman within her.
